Methods to Fix a Squeaky Chair

Method 1: Make Sure All the Screws Are Tightened
While it might sound a bit unbelievable but most of the time, mechanical parts produce squeaking noise because of loosely held screws and bolts. Keeping that in mind, we would first recommend you to locate the source of the noise.

Check for Loose Legs, Nails, and Screws
First of all, you need to ensure that the legs are tightly held in place. For that, you should check whether the screws are tightly in place or not. Alongside that, check if the nails are coming out of place or not.
To check all of those, you can just simply rock your chair back and forth. If it moves, then the legs are loose. Therefore, you need to tighten and secure the nail back into position.
Replace the Nails and Screws
After tightening and making the nails go back to the position, if the legs still seem loose for you, then replace the old screws and nails with a new set.
Once you get the new set, make sure that you put all of them in the original position, or you might just weaken the stability of the chair while trying to fix the squeaky noise.
Apply Glue to the Joints
If the legs still feel a bit loose for you, then you will have to apply glue to the joints. You will be able to find a lot of strong adhesives for woods in the market.
Get one of those and apply them to the joints. After that, wait at least five hours to let the glue dry completely. However, some adhesives might take more or less time than that.
Expand the Dowels
If the glue technique does not work, then you must disassemble the joints completely. Once you have done that, you can use the wood-swelling liquid. You will be able to find one of those in a furniture store.
